I’m not sure what this giveaway is celebrating, I just wanted to show my appreciation of all the support that my blog gets, and give a little something back.

As I’m sure most of you are aware, I was recently in Paris for the ‘Dessins du Studio Ghibli‘ exhibition at Le Musee Art Ludique, and while I was there I picked up this exclusive artbook that features nearly 500 glossy pages crammed full of exquisite layouts from every Studio Ghibli film from ‘Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind’ to ‘When Marnie was There’, and also many Shorts and important pre-Ghibli works by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata.

Anyway, this is your chance to win it and spend many a night entranced within it. You will receive a brand new, sealed/unopened copy. The photos are of the copy I bought for myself.

Important Comics, Part 2 - New Mutants #18

I bought this issue as part of a big stack of comics from a quarter box at a comic book show in Goldsboro NC. I read it in the back seat of the car while my family drove to Western Sizzlin’ for lunch. I didn’t know what to expect from the comic, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it during lunch… not even while attacking the salad bar, which in the 80s was a very important part of the Western Sizzlin experience. It was unlike any comic I had read before. It took these super heroes that I loved and threw them into some very dark, surreal territory. This was a horror comic, through and through, and it has haunted me ever since I first read it.

A little fun with some of the coolest characters from back in the day. I need to talk Joe into letting me do Battle Chasers as an ongoing comedy, GROO style! haha.

Gosh!!  I wish Cliffhanger would have taken off!!!  A lot of my favorite artist Bachalo, Mad and Ramos.  Skottie you would have fit in perfectly with that crew.  I would have added 2 or 3 more to make it my dream team.
